Vatsala (Vasu) Mundra won "Little Miss India-Texas USA" Pageant

ICC Houston , Texas - USA Celebrated India's 63rd Independence Day on Saturday, August 15 at the George R. Brown Convention Center, Houston.
India Fest 2009: Glory of India include Performances, Contests, booths & no doubt Indian Food and an afternoon flag ceremony. The India Culture Center (ICC), Houston in collaboration with the Consulate General Of India, Houston and Major Indo-American partner organizations presents this annual event.Program was attended by Indian Consul Genral Sanjeev Arora, Houston City Controller, Anise Parker.
Along with other various activities they had Little Miss & Master India-Texas/USA Pageant- The Talent / Beauty Pageant.
The Pageant has three rounds: Talent show, Cat walk in Indian Ethnic dress and Question answer.
Though many were having months of preparation, the contestants were eagerly waiting for their turn in the limelight. The pageant segments included showcasing in Ethnic Indian wears. Since this is a pageant, and not a beauty contest, the contestants were also judged on their talents ranging from Singing, classical Indian-style dancing, Instrument playing Bollywood-style dancing and even Tai Quan Do exhibition. With beauty and flair on their side, the competition concluded with the Question and Answer segment.
Talent Show:
As mentioned - This was talent based Pageant. They could have performed whatever they wish to show as Talent. Participants were given approx one and half minutes to show the talent they have got. Vasu performed dance on Bollywood song “Barso re Mega Mega “ ( Clouds rain). In Fact Houston as well as Indian both needs rain this season desperately! The years of learning were obvious – while she had special effect dance entry. She had energy, choreography, enjoyment and fine movements of Indian Classical dance. as she is learning Kathak - so viewers enjoyed this “Guru” hit Bollywood song in Classical finished touch of “Mudras”.
Though she came late in game but hats off to this little gal’s big determinations & Talent that she was outstanding in her first round itself.

Here Vasu took privilege of the confident positive energy. Vasu had entered into Pageant bit late due to moving from Atlanta and still in settling process – so didn’t get that long time like others but thanks to organizers (Nimmi Vale of ICC ) guidance and her efforts , dedication she did great job – looking very calm & confident.
The final Q∧A segment has been designed to offer the top three contestants the opportunity to address the question in a manner that befits them best. With such amazing responses, the top three contestants did an outstanding job; however, there can be only one victor.
Vasu was asked about her personality, dance perfection & training she is going through. She talked about her dance passion, “Kathak”, continue learning since childhood and still keep on learning attitude.
Outshining her competition, Vatsala Mundra emerged as the new “Little Miss India TEXAS USA” Pageant winner. She was crowned by Sarah Abraham Wife of Sugar Land Hon. Councilman Tom Abraham.
