Seva (Philanthropy)

Objectives:

  • Identify causes that are important to be supported in the local communities
  • Create a national / regional awareness of these causes amongst the local communities
  • Partner nationwide with some of the social / charitable organizations (such as American Heart Association, American Red Cross, etc.) and support their causes locally
  • Provide financial / administrative support in cases of any major natural calamities / disasters
  • Launch an award program for ‘the best social / community contributor’ to promote the culture of philanthropy amongst the community members

The funds saved from the past conventions and the generous donations received since then have been used towards several good causes.  Some of these are listed below:

  • Pledged $15,000 for the Hurricane Harvey & Irma Disaster Relief efforts
  • Donated $5,000 for the devastating Chennai flood relief effort in 2015
  • Donated $5,000 for the devastating Nepal earthquake relief effort in 2015
  • Provided over $250,000 to Support  150+ graduate students in USA through educational assistance in the last 15+ years
  • MMNA is actively engaged in the local community support efforts through its chapters at Soup kitchens, Food Banks, American Red Cross Blood Donations, etc. activities
  • Provided Scholarships to students in India
  • Donated to Rajasthan drought relief effort
  • Donated to Gujarat earthquake relief fund
  • Provided Educational loans to needy students in India

As a part of its Vision 2020, MMNA has decided to actively partner and support the following organizations at a national level:
